Digital Taste Buds?

If you've ever cooked, then you're familiar with having to taste a meal to see if if needs anything like more seasoning or if you need to change anything in the recipe to get the taste you're going for. What if the tasting spoon... actually did the tasting FOR you?

Electrolux is doing just that and trying to develop a spoon that has sensors in it which can detect tastes the way the human taste buds do and make suggestions as well as perform other helpful features.

As if that wasn't enough innovation to change how we do things in and and out of the kitchen, they are also trying to engineer a hands-free stirring utensil and hovering balls to filter the air and fragrance in a room. With helium as its floating agent, they become heavy with the contents they’re filtering.

Products this far out generally never make it to production but the byproducts of attempting to engineer products this advanced do tend to yield some very interesting products that can be game-changers.

I don't know how I'd feel about an electric spoon telling me what to add to my recipes but if this hits shelves I'm sure it would raise a lot of hype so stay tuned!

How Can Water Be Hard?

Water is considered “hard” when calcium and magnesium are found in high quantities in water which causes a buildup on the faucets and plumbing as well as a few differences in the feel of the water. It is estimated that 85% of all homes in America have hard water.

Dishwashers are typically the most susceptible to problems caused by hard water. They can leave a hazy film on your dishes and can clog the jets and cause issues with the appliance itself.

Hard water isn’t a health concern but it does irritate some people’s skin. If left untreated hard water can cost you money down the line in repairs due to the buildups.

Hard water can also change the feel of your clothes. The minerals get into the fibers of the clothing and leave them feeling less soft and pliable.

There are many stores that offer water testing to see if you have hard water.

Loaded and Ready

Loading the dishwasher isn’t really something we want to plan out but there are a few things you can do to make things easier for yourself and safer.

Anything with a blade should be blade down so there’s no way to impale yourself when you reach into the dishwasher either putting in more dishes or while unloading it.

Spoons and forks should always go in the caddy since they can stop the spinning parts if they are left loose in the washer. Also don’t leave like silverware together as utensils like spoons will “nest” together and keep them from getting cleaned properly in between them.

Always place large tins and cooking sheets on the outsides of the washer to keep them from blocking water from the rest of the dishes.
